Women are one of the most disadvantaged groups in society in the Indian sub-continent. Yet they are incredibly precious to their Heavenly Father who created them, as well as one of God's greatest resources for transforming communities. That’s why Empart has several ways we are impacting the lives
of women:
Sew & Sow Tailoring Centers
The Sew & Sow Project is run by the local church, through Tailoring Centers
that provide a 6-month course (3 mornings per week) where poor women are taught to make traditional Indian clothes as well as embroidery and soft toys.
Students range in age from thirteen to forty-five. At the end of the course, each woman is presented with a treadle or hand-operated sewing machine at their graduation service.
With the ability to generate an income, these women achieve a new level of
dignity and status in the community- along with the security of knowing that they
can help provide nourishing food, education, and health care for their children.
As important as all these things are, the greatest gift these women receive is
the gift of God - the good news of Jesus Christ. Before each tailoring lesson, a short devotional is given. For most, it is the first time they have heard of a God
who loves them, and many have responded to that love.
The Empart Sew & Sow Project makes a
real difference in the lives of women!
Of the women who graduate:
• 40% receive Jesus as their Savior, and many of their families are also
saved and attend the local church.
• 50% are able to earn an income as a result of their training; others save
considerable amounts of money by sewing for their families.
• Some become instructors and pass on the skills they have learned to
other women.
• Some receive further Bible training and minister in the Church.
Key Women: Unlocking Doors of Opportunity
Key Women are women who are trained to address the social & spiritual needs
of other women in their community and teach them about their true value as a precious and worthy part of God's creation.
Empart has 2 Training Centers in India specifically for women. The women who
attend these Training Centers receive an education, discipleship training, and mentoring - skills that empower them to connect with other women and families
in their area so they can share the gospel and transform lives.
Key Women, once trained, are then mobilized into effective ministry. They work alongside Church Planters to spread the Gospel, run groups and help Empart achieve its vision of planting 100,000 churches by 2030. Through networking
and relationship building with other women in their communities, Key Women
are helping their husbands to establish churches by unlocking the doors of
opportunity.
Women’s Conferences
Women in nations like India and Nepal have very few opportunities to get away
from the busyness and demands of everyday life and spend time nurturing their spirits. That's why we've created a 3-Day Conference where women can be refreshed and receive great teaching about their value and worth. In addition, attendees learn life & leadership skills for reaching out to other women in their community. Our women's conferences are truly life-changing for those who
attend, and are an important way we are investing in the lives of women.
As you can see, there are a lot of ways that Empart is empowering women-
and many ways that God is using women to reach their communities with
the love and hope of Jesus.
